Retests that fail: reading the second visit

Breaks look convincing on the candle that leaves a level. The return visit is where many plans quietly die. If price reclaims the broken zone and closes back on the original side, treat the break as provisional.

In mentorship we ask clients to wait for that second candle’s close before sizing up. A shallow retest that holds as new support can be constructive. A deep reclaim that erases the break asks for patience, not averaging.

Journal both outcomes with the same checklist: Was the break on expanding range? Did the retest print acceptance or rejection? Where is invalidation if the reclaim continues? Those three answers beat a vague sense that “the level should hold.”

Failed retests near obvious stops teach as much as clean continuation. Over a month of reviews you will notice which instruments produce reliable retest behaviour for your timeframe — and which produce expensive theatre.
